Years ago, I worked selling cars and saw firsthand how confusing, overwhelming, and sometimes frustrating the whole vehicle process could be for everyday people; from negotiating a deal all the way to obtaining finance. The language was designed to overwhelm. The numbers were designed to obscure.
Fast forward to today, and I'm on the other side — just another bloke trying to navigate the endless stream of advertisements, hidden fees, sales tactics, and finance jargon that make finding a good deal harder than it should be.
